Dear Family & Friends,

As you know Tiffany and I recently went on a one week mission trip to Haiti and had a life-changing experience. Well, it appears God has bigger plans for us with Haiti in the future. I think the last many of you heard of my career endeavors I was attempting to open my own gym. To make a long story short, God revealed to me through a series of events that it was not His plan for me to start a business right now. I didn’t understand the reason at the time but now I’m learning what He’s calling me to. For years I’ve been pursuing money and trying to establish a comfortable life when all along He wanted me to simply pursue him 100%.

My role will be to help develop the Church2Church and Microfinance programs from the ground in Haiti.  I’m very excited about both components because each is designed to empower the people of Haiti to rebuild and reignite their own nation.  I will be working with a couple of the Haitian translators who are well connected in the pastoral network and our job will be to identify new pastors who have a passion for bringing Christ to their people, and partnering them with American churches. Adventures in Missions believes that God and his church are the primary hope for physical and spiritual restoration in Haiti. Since the earthquake, there has been a massive Christian revival and the Haitian pastors are overwhelmed by the exponential growth of their congregations and the amount of work needed to rebuild their church buildings and communities. The goal of the Church2Church program is for an American church to come alongside a Haitian pastor and his church through encouragement, prayer, and discipleship. As this relationship progresses, these churches will benefit from any financial support their adoptive church can give as well as missionary teams to help them rebuild, pray with people, love on the kids, and much more.  Part of my job will include turning the financial donations into food and goods and distributing them to the communities.

In addition to pairing churches, we will also be helping the pastors identify experienced entrepreneurs within their communities who would be good candidates for microloans. Microloans are small loans (about $50-$500) designed to allow hardworking men and women in poverty to start their own business. Since the unemployment rate in Haiti is over 90%, these microloans provide an opportunity to make income and help stimulate the economyOnce candidates are identified, I will then help counsel them on writing business plans, setting clear expectations, and providing them with the necessary capital to launch their businesses.

There are a few keys ways you can support and partner with us if you are interested:

1)        Prayer. Please pray for safety and health for me in Haiti and that God’s work will be done through me. Also, please pray for and check in on Tiffany as she manages our household by herself. We would also appreciate prayer for God to strengthen our marriage despite the distance.

2)        Go. Tiffany and I are putting together a group trip for early September so others can have the same transformational experience we did. I will take a break from my normal duties to join the group that week. If you are interested, please get in touch with us for further details.

3)        Your Church. I am currently recruiting American churches for the Church2Church program and would love to help get your church involved in adopting and supporting a church in Haiti. Feel free to email me now or once I’m in Haiti and we can get things started.

4)        Financial. The position I’m accepting is short-term and unpaid so we’re looking for some help covering the expenses. I’m estimating that $5000-$6000 will cover all my airfare and monthly expenses, as well Tiffany’s airfare and fees when she comes out in August. Any help would be a blessing! To make a tax-deductible donation to my trip, you can click on the link to the left that says “Support Me!”
